Pope Francis Discharged from Hospital today, the Feast Day of San Camillo De Lellis

(San Camillo De Lellis is Patron Saint of the sick, nurses, health care workers and hospitals)

This morning, shortly after 10.30, the Holy Father was discharged from hospital in Rome. Before returning to the Vatican, the Pope went to the Basilica of St. Mary Major where, in front of the icon of the Virgin Salus Populi Romani, he prayed a prayer of thanksgiving for the success of his surgery, praying also for the sick, in particular those encountered during the days of his hospitalisation. Shortly before 12.00 he returned to Casa Santa Marta.
